Why does loutheartist artwork differ to standard sizing?
loutheartist artwork is slightly smaller than the standard sizing so, if you choose a standard frame size, when you mount the artwork, you can still see the deckled edge.
The feathered, unfinished look of a deckled edge means the sizing can only be approximate due to its rough cut.
Diptych, Triptych and Made to Order Sizing
Please note that for loutheartist Diptych, Triptych and, of course, Made to Order work, as well as any corresponding prints, the sizes differ, so please refer to the individual artwork details.
Do you sell framed Artwork?
Framing is very individual and makes the artwork more difficult to post. Therefore, so you get exactly what you think is best for the location of your artwork, all art is supplied unframed.
From time to time, loutheartist does frame artwork for commissions, displays, exhibitions and projects. These frames are either vintage or bespoke, usually with double glass, i.e. no backing. Most are hand finished with a slightly shabby chic, dark golden colour to contrast with the bright reflectiveness of the original artworks.
Pictures displaying framed artwork on this website are there for inspiration only.
Please see Sizing for further information relating to framing.
Why have a deckled edge?
Many fine art works, and indeed, hand-made, fine art finished, or digital prints deckle the paper edge. This once considered imperfection, as the byproduct of the hand-made paper-making process, is now used to make an original, or print, artwork appear even more interesting and valuable.
loutheartist likes to use heavyweight 100% cotton paper, made by Arches. This is the same paper used by many of the greats, including Van Gogh, Matisse, Chagall, Picasso, Braque, Miro, Dali, Warhol, Alechinsky, among others, as well as great art publishers over many years, and it comes with a deckled edge due to the traditional and recent blend of manufacturing processes used.
loutheartist Limited provides each artwork, including prints, with an Authentication Certificate.
ORIGINALS: loutheartist’s signature on this document attests that she has personally made, signed and named the original artwork.
Original artworks should be displayed away from direct sunlight and fluorescent lighting as they can fade the colours. Do not hang in a bathroom or other area of high humidity. To keep the collage flat, it is recommended that the artwork is mounted directly behind glass, not in a box frame, as foil can be affected by different atmospheres and this may cause the collage to not look completely flat, after time.
PRINTS: loutheartist’s signature on the certificate attests that she has personally inspected, approved, numbered and signed each print as an authentic reproduction of her original foil collage artwork.
The production of each fine art giclee print utilises Arches 100% 310gsm cotton paper and archival pigmented inks engineered to last a minimum of 100 years. In addition, each print receives a textured UV coating. With proper care this fine art giclee print will be enjoyed for generations.
More about the Fragrance...
For her series, 'Sweetie', loutheartist has infused fragrance into the paper to awaken the senses and provide a light aroma, reminiscent of the scents enjoyed when working on each piece.
Designed as a fun, additional element, all loutheartist original works of art and also all fine art finished giclee prints have either a chocolate, or chocolate mint, fragrance.
All artwork is sold including a fragrance spray, so you can carefully spray the reverse of your framed artwork to continue to enjoy the scent, or use as a room fragrance.
The fragrance spray is not currently sold separately.
